Free universal database tool and SQL client for every major database

Overview

Description

DBeaver is a free, universal database management tool that supports virtually every relational and NoSQL database through a single, consistent interface. It gives developers and DBAs a visual SQL editor, schema browser, and data exporter without per-database licensing fees.

Features

  • Universal Connectivity: Connects to Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB, and 80+ other databases via JDBC.
  • Visual SQL Editor: Offers autocomplete, syntax highlighting, and query execution plans.
  • ER Diagrams: Generates entity-relationship diagrams automatically from existing schemas.
  • Data Editor & Export: Browses and edits table data with export to CSV, JSON, SQL, and Excel.
  • Data Comparison: Diffs schemas and data between two database connections.
  • Cross-Platform Desktop App: Runs natively on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Technology Stack

Built on the Eclipse RCP platform in Java, using JDBC drivers for database connectivity. A separate cloud/web edition exists, but the core desktop client is the open-source project.

Requirements

Windows, macOS, or Linux with Java runtime (bundled with installers); at least 2 GB RAM; JDBC driver per target database (auto-downloaded on first connection).
