Apache Superset
Description
Apache Superset is an open-source data-exploration and visualization platform, and a self-hostable alternative to Tableau, Looker, and Power BI. It connects to any database that speaks SQL and lets analysts build charts with a no-code explorer or a full-featured SQL IDE, then assemble them into interactive, filterable dashboards. It scales from a single analyst on a laptop to an organization-wide BI layer with caching, async queries, and role-based access.
Features
- No-code explorer: Build charts visually with 40+ visualization types.
- SQL Lab: Browser-based SQL IDE with autocomplete, query history, and result-to-chart.
- Dashboards: Drag-and-drop layout, cross-filters, native filters, and drill-to-detail.
- Broad connectivity: PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Trino, ClickHouse, and dozens more via SQLAlchemy.
- Security: Role-based access control, row-level security, and OAuth/LDAP/OpenID.
- Performance: Caching layer (Redis), asynchronous queries via Celery.
